We're enjoying some self-imposed down time currently but are looking to add a few gigs before the end of the year. If you need a band for your upcoming event or to fill a spot in your entertainment lineup at your bar or fest, just let us know! We're also looking to start booking for 2010.
What a great month of gigs we had in July! It started in Carol Stream at their 4th of July Fest then went to Norridge, Lake Barrington, Merrionette Park and then concluded in Chicago at Joe's on Weed Street opening for Kingbilly! We are grateful for the opportunity to play each and every gig. We have a passion for performing and hope that it shines through in our performances. For those of you on Facebook, we now have a YFC Page. Become a friend/fan!!
The fest season is in full swing, and while we've been having a blast, it has been challening thus far. The weather has affected quite a few of our shows: one was cancelled before we could get unloaded, one ended a show early, and another presented challenges setting up. At Norridge's Island in the City Festival, which we playing on July 10, the generator blew...TWICE!! Last year we got rained out at the same event. We're chugging along though and are thankful for these folks booking us to play their events. It's always a lot of fun to get out there and do our thing.
We'd like to thank all of you that have been coming out to support us as we gear up for what we hope to be another great Summer of playing. We've added some new songs to the mix and have been working hard to put on even better shows this year. Word on the street is that new shirts are on their way, and as always, we have those excellent (and FREE!) YFC tattoos available at gigs.
The event at Bobby McGee's, hosted by Mike Cozzi, for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was a huge success. Mike did a great job planning this event. We had a great time sharing the stage with Hillbilly Rockstarz and Chase Daniels. It was a wonderful evening for a wonderful cause, and we made some great new friends. Thanks again to Mike for inviting us to play his event.
Many thanks to those of you that came out to support us at 115 Bourbon Street for our February 28 gig. We debuted some new songs including one that Jeff sings that digs deep into the Waylon Jenning's catalog. We had a great time and hope that you did as well. We're looking forward to getting back into the groove and are anticipating the Summer season.
We'd like to publicly thank Scotty Boudreau for years of dedication in running a fan club site for the band. He
recently informed us, that due to circumstances beyond his control, he can no longer maintain it.
Some of Scotty's hard work will be on display in the Media section.
Scotty has been a fixture at YFC gigs since the band's inception and has been one of our greatest cheerleaders. He's taken thousands of pictures over the years and attended nearly every gig we've played. Next time you see him at a gig, give him a big thank you and buy him a drink!
Now that 2008 has come to a close, we in Yard Fulla Cars would like to thank all of our fans and friends who supported us and came to see us perform this past year. We had a jam-packed and productive 2008 playing fests and clubs and private events all over the Chicago metro area.
Some of the highlights of 2008 were: performing at the City of Chicago Country Music Festival at Soldier Field in October, Romeofest in Romeoville, Crossroads Fest in Shorewood, Last Fling in Naperville, our continuing appearances at 115 Bourbon Street, our first performance at Gunther's Bar and Grill in Plainfield, The Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana and many other club and fest dates. We had a great time at every performance.
In addition, our very own Katie Quick was invited to perform on WGN radio and on WGN TV this past year. In the fall, Katie went to Nashville and recorded her second CD which should be available very soon. All of us in YFC are very proud of Katie and her growth in songwriting and performing. We currently perform three of Katie' songs her songs in 2009. In addition to Katie's originals, we are continually adding in new cover songs for your listening pleasure.
Our band has also invested in some brand new equipment that should help us for future gigs. We will begin using in-ear monitors for our 2009 performances. This will help all of us hear each other very clearly and it will give us the best mix for performing at our peak for each and every performance. We are excited about the new in-ear monitors and we are anxious to use them in the near future.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you in 2009! And while you're here, take a look around the site. There have been some major changes.
Finally, a long overdue update.
Over the Summer Yard Fulla Cars celebrated its 3rd Year Anniversary. We would like to thank all of our loyal fans and friends who have supported us and encouraged us with your attendance and your enthusiasm at our performances. As our following and our fan base grows, we feel more and more appreciative of those who enjoy our music and our enthusiasm for doing what we love to do.
This summer was a very busy summer for Yard Fulla Cars and we are enjoyed every minute of it.
One of the most exciting things to happen this summer was been the development of our very own Katie Quick who with Krissi Woods, form a dynamic vocal duo chock full of energy and talent. Katie has been prolific in her song-writing for the past year and she has opened up for a Grammy-nominated artist, she has been featured on WGN Radio and the Great American Country Music Television Channel. She was written up in the Chicago Sun-Times (7/29/08), she made her way to the semi-finals of Nashville Star, she won the US 99.5 Talent Competition and she found time to release her very first solo CD. She also has been a powerful partner onstage with Krissi and together they provide enough energy to power the City of Chicago for an entire day!
Our band is now performing three of Katie's originals at every show and we intend to perform more of them in the future plus write some of our own Yard Fulla Cars originals in the coming year.
For those who are interested we now have very nice Yard Fulla Cars tee shirts available both online and for sale at our performances. In addition, Katie has copies of her CD for sale at our performances and we even have temporary YFC tattoos available at every performance. You can show your support by placing us on your forehead, your arms, anywhere you can apply a tattoo, you will be supporting YFC.
The fest season is in full swing! We've added new tunes for this season including some songs written by our very own Katie. We hope to see you at one or more gigs over the Summer. While we have very few available dates, if you're still looking for a band to play your club, fest or other event in the coming months, send us an email at booking@yardfullacars.com.
A special shout-out to Mark and Amy who heard about us from Katie's appearance on WGN's "Steve & Johnnie Show". They've been out to a few gigs now. We appreciate the support!
Many thanks to those folks that made it out to Samy's last month. While the crowd wasn't huge, everyone there had a great time. It was a new venue for us. We loved the size of the stage. The highlight of the evening was debuting two of Katie's songs. Both went over really well, especially "Something About The Rain". If you missed this gig, be sure to catch these tunes at a future show.
We had the pleasure of playing at the Ray and Cheryl's wedding last month. It was a great event and we feel so honored to have been asked to share their special day with them.
Last Sunday kicked off the Summer fest season for us. We returned to St. Joe's for the third year in a row. Special thanks to Sue for treating us well and to Mike and his crew for doing such a superb job with the sound. We'd also like to acknowledge the fellas in Maggie Speaks. We opened for them and were impressed by their monitor system. We're working on some PA improvements, and they've been extremely helpful to us.
Thanks to everyone that came out to Bourbon Street a couple of weeks ago to support us. We greatly appreciate it! It's always great to play on the South Side!
The Summer calendar is filling up fast. We're returning to many fests that we played last year and have added some new ones for this year. The fests are great as they provide many groups and communities an opportunity to showcase themselves and raise funds for various projects. We're really looking forward to hitting it hard this Summer and hope to see you at one or more shows.
If your fest is looking for a great band to liven up your event, please email us at: booking@yardfullacars.com
The band wishes to congratulate Katie on finishing up recording her first album in Nashville. If you'd like to hear some of the songs, please check out her MySpace page. Recently Katie and Jeff performed a selection of Katie's tunes along with Victor Sanders on lead guitar at a showcase in Forest Park. The band plans to incorporate a few of her tunes into our setlists in the near future. Go Katie!! We love you!!!
We would like to welcome Dave Bojan as our new lead guitarist! We considered more than a dozen guitarists for the spot, and Dave is the best fit for us. We're looking forward to our next gig, April 12 at Bourbon Street, where Dave will make his debut. Please mark it on your calendar and plan to attend and welcome Dave into the YFC fold.
Dave brings a wealth of experience and has done stage and session work with pop, rock, fusion and even gospel groups. We knew we were on to something during the audition with him when we played "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree". He said something along the lines that there wasn't that much going on in the song. We asked him to funk it up a little. Funk it up he did! You are going to love it!!
For the gear heads, he's got gear to die for and used his Dr. Z head during the audition. It's the same amp that country guitar great Brad Paisley uses. Dave does it proud! While he's also got more effects pedals than anyone I've ever seen, he uses them tastefully. He also sports a fine arsenal of guitars.
If you'd like to get a look at him, follow the Band link. There's a mug shot of him there. You'll notice that he has more hair than anyone in the band other than Krissi (and maybe Katie)!
This update would not be complete without the band extending a huge thank you to Shane Davis. Shane is a Nashville guy that came up to play with us at our February 15 gig at Bourbon Street. He's played with artists like Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson and Merle Haggard (threw this in for you old school folks). Now he can put YFC on his resume! We did not have time to rehearse with him at all, so what you all who were at the show witnessed was something really unique for us...improvising. Shane did a great job for us and we are truly grateful for him agreeing to fly up and help us out on short notice.
We are so pleased to announce that our very own Katie won the US99 Talent Contest held at 115 Bourbon Street. The contest lasted several months with the five finalists from each month meeting for a head-to-head competition on December 18. There were 15 finalists for the event. Katie was the last to perform. While most contestants sang karaoke, Katie hit the stage with her guitar, her voice and her song "Fingertips". She brought the house down and won convincingly. If you'd like to hear "Fingertips" and some of Katie's other songs, please check out her MySpace site.
The New Year is upon us, and we're looking forward to a great year. If you'd like to book us or know of a place you think we could and/or should play, just drop us a line at booking@yardfullacars.com. Thanks to everyone that has supported us. We truly appreciate it.
We want to thank all of you that came out to support us at 115 Bourbon Street on Saturday night! It was great seeing old faces and meeting new friends. As usual, Tim did a great job running sound for us. We appreciate him working so closely with us on our sound. This was our last gig of the year. We're looking forward to starting the new year by playing a new venue for us: Jesse Oaks in Gages Lake. We hope some of you can make the long trek north.
Make sure you check out the Fan Club site that Scotty has put together. If you were at Bourbon Street, you're likely on the site! Many, many thanks to Scotty and Diane for continuuing to support us like they do. Also a special shout out goes to Laura for coming out to our gigs regularly.
After experiencing major problems trying to revamp the site (no one in the band is an HTML Guru), we're now live with YFC 2.0. We hope you find the site easy to navigate and that you like the new additions!
We're playing our last gig of the year tomorrow night at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park. Come on out. We'd love to see you. We've added a few new songs since we played there last.
It's starting to get cold outside! We played the last of our non-bar gigs recently...a car show in Batavia. Many thanks to our friends and family that came out to support us. We'll be spending time next month working on some new songs and taking a little break from gigging. Be on the lookout for a totally new look for the website. It will be very different than this site.
We've been gigging like crazy over the last two months and have been having so much fun!
The fest season is winding down. We'll be playing what appears to be our last two fests of the season this weekend. If you'd like to see us in a family-friendly environment, then be sure to come out on Saturday and/or Sunday.
Thanks to everyone that has been coming out to support us this Summer. We've got a lot of shows scheduled in a variety of locations and we hope that you can make it out to one or more of them over the next few months. The T-shirts have arrived and have been selling briskly. If you're interested in purchasing one ($10), check with Katie at the gig. She'll hook you up!
We've been working on some new songs the last couple of weeks and are gearing up for a busy Summer. Rumor has it that the PVC bass will once again show up at future gigs as well as some other goodies. We're ordering new shirts (different design/style) from our last shirts. They'll be ordered this week and will take about 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. Hopefully they'll be available at the 115 Bourbon Street gig on May 12.
Our return to Giddy-Up on March 23 was a good one. Our friend Bob ran sound for us and did an admirable job. We had some new faces in the crowd this time which is always a pleasure as well as many of our "regulars". Thanks again to Scotty and Diane for working so hard for the band. We truly appreciate it.
This past week we confirmed a gig with the Illinois State Fair this year in Springfield! They have asked us to play from 8:00pm until 11:00pm on Tuesday, August 14. We've graciously accepted and are looking to rock south of I-80 for the first time!!
Please be sure to check the gigs page...sorry I'm too lazy to insert the link right now. We've got quite a few shows lined up from June to August. We hope to see you at one or more of them!!
We've had a busy few weeks. We played at Bourbon Street to a packed house and followed up the following Saturday afternoon by playing a homeschool conference. The latter was very rewarding as we got to jam with some of the kids attending the conference after our gig.
Please check back for updates soon!
This past Saturday we played a benefit at 115 Bourbon Street for Lisa Doyle Fitzgerald. It was a very moving experience for everyone in the band. We were glad to be a part of such a wonderful event.
We have been asked by Bourbone Street to be one of the bands for their promotion with US99. On the second Saturday of each month country karaoke will take place from 8pm until 10pm. A country band will play from 10pm until 2am. Our first date for this event will be on May 12. We hope to see you there...and don't forget...we're playing at Bourbon Street next Friday night. Check out our gigs page for more info.
The band has been busy rehearsing new songs and booking new gigs. Check out our gigs page to see our latest bookings. We now have gigs booked into August! If you're interested in booking us for your festival, bar, corporate event or private party, send us an email at booking@yardfullacars.com.
Happy New Year from YFC! We're looking forward to a great year and hope you'll be a part of it. Many thanks to those that have helped us out this past yet including, but not limited to Scotty, Diane and Adam.
